Is your suggestion related to a problem? Please describe.

As far as I can tell the display name of a channel is up to the admin of each room to choose. Since element is showing the display name as configured by the admin they can be kind of confusing if a channels name is "Main", "General" or "Chat". If you are in multiple communities where those channels exist you can't distinguish between them on your own. You have to ask each admin to cooperate in renaming them or giving them an icon that is unique.

Describe the solution you'd like.

I would like to be able to rename a channel local (or for all my clients) such as that I can distinguish between them and can not be tricked into writing into the wrong one when someone (maliciously) changes the channels display name.

Describe alternatives you've considered.

No idea what the alternatives to this would be.

Additional context

The NixOS community just moved to Matrix and the off-topic channel was just called "Chat' so that I couldn't distinguish it from other channels with the same name.
