This is related to #223.

I've made this issue specifically to focus on pre-commit.

I think it might be good to add a local hook for running the invoke tasks related to the documentation whenever README.md and/or a Python file is updated.
This will hopefully ensure fewer cases where the upcoming workflow jobs in #242 fail.
