Myanmar Unicode fonts

Introduction

The CSS3 font module specification is available at:

A typeface or font family consist of a series of fonts based on the same typeface design but differing based on:

• weight or stroke width, e.g. thin, light, regular (normal, Roman), bold, black, etc
• slope or style, e.g upright (Roman, normal, regular), italic and oblique (slanted)
• character width or stretch, e.g. compressed (condensed, narrow) versus extended (expanded), etc.

The CSS property font-family is used to select the typeface. While font-weight is used to select a particular weight or stroke width of the typeface, font-style is used to select a particular slope or style of the typeface, and font-stretch is used to select a particular character width or stretch of the typeface.

A typeface may contain a single font, or a typeface may contain multiple fonts representing different weights, styles and stretches. If a font of the appropriate weight, style or stretch is not available, but the normal version of the typeface is available, the web browsers will create a synthetic font to use. As can be seen from the table all Myanmar script Unicode fonts come in a single style and a single stretch. While eight fonts are available in two or more weights.

mymr uses the default shaper in Uniscribe.
