ErgoMixer 4 fails to open on OS X

I downloaded and installed Ergo Mixer 4.0.0 from https://github.com/ergoMixer/ergoMixBack/releases onto my M1 MacMini running OS X 12.3. When I double clicked to launch, I received the following error:

JRE v8 update 321 is installed.

You need to ctrl + click, then select open. This is an issue with Mac OS GateKeeper stuff.

This particular message (is damaged) is not one I've seen with Gatekeeper. Those are cannot verify the developer, will damage your computer, was not downloaded from the app store, etc.

Gatekeeper was the issue with 3.3.5 (which I can run), but something changed in 4.0 (which I cannot run).

This is all on the dmg file, btw.

On Somona, giving Full Disk Access to Terminal from System Preferences > Privacy & Security and then sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/ergoMixer.app, as @anon2020s suggested, worked. But, I think this should be fixed.
