How can I fix = note: memory.x:21: nonconstant expression for origin on Mac?

I'm fiddling with some new MCUs and host settings. I can't seem to resolve the below on Mac:

WARN rustc_codegen_ssa::back::link Linker does not support -no-pie command line option. Retrying without.
error: linking with `xtensa-esp32-elf-gcc` failed: exit status: 1
...
= note: memory.x:21: nonconstant expression for origin

Any suggestions?

As stated in the error itself, this is a linker error from the xtensa-esp32-elf-gcc binary, and is not related to espflash. Something in your project is likely misconfigured.

Agreed.

However, I do think it has something to do with configuration options relevant to one of the github.com/esp-rs utilities--probably the toolchain--and using espflash is where I experienced the issue.

I'm using https://github.com/esp-rs/esp-template.

Are you sourcing the export file? Please, go through https://esp-rs.github.io/book/installation/index.html and if the issue still persists I would suggest asking in our matrix channel https://matrix.to/#/#esp-rs:matrix.org
