use 1/3 phase switching to better support available PV power

I really like the project a lot, very nicely done!

I wonder if you would consider p1/p3 switching as a new feature in the future?

Being able to use the full range from 1P/5A to 3P/16A (1,2 kW - 11kW) would be perfect for the use of PV Power during the day.
(if you have any hints where to start or how to approach the feature, i might consider jumping in)

I also would be interested how EVCC is supporting 1p/3p-switching? I have ordered the new v3 go-echarger which will support phase-switching (maybe over their API soon as well). It would be great if that switching could be triggered using EVCC.

Sounds good :) I just followed the discussion on the openWB forum about supporting 1p/3p switching of the new go-echarger. They don't seem to like the idea of supporting it. Would I have to implement that API call myself or is there some easy graphical user button to turn on that functionality? If yes, I will definitely consider EVCC for my future PV+EV setup.

Why is 1p3p switching recommended? As far as I know "just" to start charging with less power alreaedy??
Bakcground: We have a PV with 6,5kW/p while about 300W minimun power consumption in our house.
Once Battery is fully charged there might be up to 6kW Power from Solarplants to be used as only power during day and only in very rare circumtances we have to get external Power to ensure car is fully charged on Monday Morning.
While Power is anyway nettet through all 3 phases, would it make sense to focus on automatic 1p3p switching??

@int5749 that depends on where you live and your pv inverter setup.

In Germany one is only allowed to export 70% of the maximum kWp power at any time, which means lots of PV inverters are set to generate only 70% of the maximum kWp. The only other option is if they have metering at the grid added and can dynamically adjust that value depending on the actual in-house use.

With 6,5kWp (NOT kW/p!) and 70% as a hard limit you never create more than 4,5kW Power, which means you have at max only 4,2kW available.

1-phase charging requires a minimum of 1,4kW (6A * 230V) and works up to 3,68kW (16A * 230V) or 7,36kW (32A * 230V). 3-phase charging requires a minimum of 4,2kW (3 * 6A * 230V) and works up to 11kW (3 * 16A * 230V) or 22kW (3 * 32A * 230V).

Which means for you: if your PV inverter has a hard limit of 70%, you always want to charge with 1-phase only in PV mode. 3-phase if you need a quicker charge then the 1-phase maximum you can use.

And even if you have a dynamic setup, you hardly ever get above 4,2kW with your setup and hence 1p/3p probably won't make any sense for your setup.

In my case I don't have any limitation and would be able to export 100%, and am only limited while having 2 Inverters (1x 4kW and 1x 2,5kW) with 7,3kWp of Solarplants. That's why I do have ~6kW around lunch time only. While our small car is not being used from Friday til Monday Morning, I intend to charge it with solar power of the weekend. autumn til spring we have to use usual power :-/ but 7,36kW still would be sufficient to have it charged in that timeframe. In case we do have to charge much faster, we have a 22kW SMA EV Charger in our Garage. ;-)

Where are more losses? 1p or 3p?
