Proposed single point agenda: land expressjs/express#3621 .

We decided on this last week, but could not make progress - 0 approvals in 2 years. IMO things are slowing down.

Rather than discussing too many items with little or no forward progress, to me it makes sense to make steady and visible steps.

Hi @gireeshpunathil I'm not sure if you are connected to what is happening in all the various repos, as there are many repos besides the main express one. The timeline on my github certainly shows that there is activity happening, and even then, I think there may very well be a little bit of a slow down happening around here, with the current world events and all. I certainly know a lot of my personal time (in which open source work comes from) is being eaten up with said events.

I think the statement of things slowing doen is a bit unfair, especially since I have been spending almost all the spare time I have the last couple of weeks on Express.

Statements like that make me wonder why I even try, and are quite hurtful.

@dougwilson -

  • I said things are slowing down as IMO - which is my opinion based on my perception about how top priority items are moving.
  • There isn't any reference to commitment or lack of commitment of Doug Wilson or any other individuals in my statement. It is my PoV about the general state of the project.

Ok, but if we are having more meetings, and more discussion in issues, more participation from our triagers across several repos, that all seems to me to be an increase in activity.

Perhaps your perception is due to the lack of being connected to the goings on across all the repos in all three organizations? Are you feeling like the slow down is happening across the board or only in one particular area? Can you provide more specific reasons why you feel like there is a slow down?

If you are feeling that, I think we need to set up something to improve the transparency of the work that is happening all across the many project repos as our next step.

  • agreed, I am seeing lot of work happening across various repos.
  • my perceptions are based on progress on specific items listed in express 5.0.0 #100 (express 5 release, tagged as top priority).
  • sure, I am happy to have a 1X1 to discuss this towards better transparency.

my perceptions are based on progress on specific items listed in #100 (express 5 release, tagged as top priority).

Gotcha. I think that is likely because even in the TC meetings we are not discussing only those items, and instead also discussing (and working towards) other items like the repo captains, etc. Would you propose that we drop the ongoing work on anything not in that list to make sure that is the process we are making?

sure, I am happy to have a 1X1 to discuss this towards better transparency.

I can add this to this meeting agenda, unless we think it should not be in there.

No. I request all active TC members to take part in these important items and help progress those.

I can add this to this meeting agenda, unless we think it should not be in there.

thanks! let us take this up as 2nd item, not 1st! (just trying to be pragmatic here in terms of the stated agenda no. 1)

I'm afraid that I won't be able to participate today 😞

Following up from last metting from my part: I've gotten some valuable feedback on Multer 2.x, mostly related to the documentation. I think that we are almost ready for a release, just need to address the last comments which I haven't gotten to yet 🚀

Will try and look at the stream tomorrow!

Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it today. Looking forward to listening to the stream afterwards. Thank you Doug for organizing!

action-ables:

  • @dougwilson to cut and publish 4.18 today (26th) or tomorrow (27th). The team is standby in case help required. Please ping here or in express 5.0.0 #100 for anything

  • consider on-boarding new committers - @expressjs/express-tc

@dougwilson - just wanted to follow up on the progress so far. where are we right now in terms of 4.18? Do you need any help?

Hi @gireeshpunathil your summary above is incorrect; the plan is not to publish 4.18 this week; that is not possible. We must present the 4.18 branch for public review and comments for a period of time before publish as we spoke about in the TC meeting. The plan is to open that PR this week here so we can publish it next week after the required waiting period for a new release.

@dougwilson - ok, that means I fully misunderstood the action on this.

I see a 4.18 branch (that is identical to the master at the moment). What content is going into that? 6 items in https://github.com/expressjs/express/milestone/18 ? or a subset of those? who is taking decision / action on that? anything I can help with?
