To have long running wdt running on 2 hosts and use fswatch https://github.com/emcrisostomo/fswatch
to signal changing files and send them (or the ranges that change)

The use case is development on say a laptop and sync to server for building/testing

maybe watchman: https://github.com/facebook/watchman is an alternative.
