Welcome to Lotus!

Lotus is a universally open-sourced project and welcomes contributions of all kinds: code, docs, and more. Please read the contribution guideline before you make a contribution to make the work more efficient. This page contains an overview of the Lotus project board and how the open-source contributors and maintainers of Lotus can utilize it to achieve a reactive, robust and efficient project development.

The goal of this board is for all contributors to pick up a ticket to analyze or work on from triaged issues backlog and share the dev progress along the way with the rest of the community.

Note: Ping a maintainer to move the tickets to the Lotus board with the corresponding status when the time fits to avoid duplicated efforts!

To achieve the above goal, the following workflow is currently proposed. This applies to requests captured in Lotus GitHub issues:

• Triage new issues with labels assigned.
  • Collect required details from the author of troubleshooting and potential bug investigation tickets.
  • Owners: @jennijuju
• If a ticket has enough information from the reporter, but it needs to be analyzed/investigated and discussed by maintainers before implementation, put it in the Need Analysis column.
  • This is the handoff point from community engineering => Lotus engineering.
• A Lotus maintainer will pick up the issue to analyze and discuss it. Once the issue has decisions, technical guidance, an action plan and/or implementation notes, it is in a good state to be implemented.
  • Move it to the Ready for Work column to signal that it’s ready for the community to implement
• Assign yourself as the assignee of the ticket you want to start to work on and ask a maintainer to move it to the In Progress column.
• For tickets that have been implemented, create a PR and link it to the issue using keywords, or manually. This will group both the PR and the issue under a single card, and will move them to the In Review column, signalling that it is awaiting review from a maintainer.
• Tickets will be automatically moved to Closed when the issue is closed, with or without a PR associated to it.
• Find a ticket for a specific epic by clicking on the epic issue’s label in the Epic.
