What json scheme do functions called over HLAPI follow?

I am trying to call the import/export card's requestImportFile function over HLAPI, and while the call seems to work alright, the json that is returned has me confused, for as far as I can tell it should return:

    "type": "result",
    "data": true // or false
}

When printing out whatever is returned, I get:

{
    "type": "result"
}

It seems to do this for all functions called (from my program) over the HLAPI will do the same and not return any data. Calling the same functions from lua seems to work fine. Am I messing up on my side and should I not expect it to always have a data field or is OC2 acting weird?
