Just working on a role/task to add files from file system to a library (using https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy/blob/dev/scripts/api/library_upload_dir.py). Was wondering if it is an idea to integrate this here or elsewhere in https://github.com/galaxyproject/

How about ephemeris (https://github.com/galaxyproject/ephemeris)?
To me that feels like more of a place where such steps belong but that's just a suggestion.

To me its sounds good. This role installs tools, data_managers and genome indexes. Installing also data in galaxy libraries would not be inconsistent for sure (except with the repo name). Ephemeris would be nice too. Then I bet that temptation to use such an ephemeris script in this playbook would rapidly show up ;-)
