As of #3622, it would be cool to integrate HTML emails into Gitea.
@lafriks proposed https://github.com/matcornic/hermes to do that.

I rather dislike hermes (I used it in private projects) because it is quiet inflexible and you don't have as much advantages than using HTML templates. It's also hard to translate/i18n.

I would prefer to use a general template for the most gitea emails and a more advanced one for the rest.
