I'm pretty sure a PR exists for an effect that is a less controllable version of this. The control would, I think, be the fun part.

Name of effect
Fun With Gravity

Potential Alternates - "Gravity Rush", "Directed Gravity"

Duration

  • Long
  • Short (could be either short or long but probably leaning towards short)
  • No duration

Effect Description
For the duration of the effect, control inputs that pertain to movement, manipulate gravity and gravity-like effects:

  • WASD/movement, directs gravity North/West/South/East. Alternatively, forward/backward/left/right relative to camera. Allows for diagonals.
  • Jumping creates a pulse of "forcefield" repulsing gravity. Crouching creates a "gravity field".
  • Tilt/fly up/down directs gravity up or down. Combines with WASD/movement. Keeping the "fly down" button held down would be the only way to keep on the ground while moving.
  • Would like some button to increase and some other button to decrease gravity. Perhaps the radio buttons.

The intent is a disruptive, but semi-controllable environmental effect where the whole world is thrown into disarray but the player isn't completely stripped of agency and means to keep progressing. It would probably be performance-heavy, but shouldn't be too much so.

Search for it, if you find it just add on to it. No need to create a whole new issue.

It's a PR, not an issue. I can't tell someone to change what they've done because I think my idea is better. And if I put the idea in the PR comments, it's going to stay mostly unseen.

I can instead make an issue with a regular suggestion, then find the PR and reference it. (So far the closest I found was actually yours, #3051 . As well as #3035 . But I'm not sure if those are what I meant.) That way if the PR merges/closes, the idea is still up for someone to see.
