plyr is not showing up in the CRAN repository for some reason. Is there another way to install plyr?

it seems package is online
https://cran.rstudio.com/web/packages/plyr/index.html

You can install it from CRAN with install.packages - it should not be a problem unless you are not configured on your server.

  • internet access ?
  • Which CRAN repository did you try? (try cran.rstudio.com but should be the default on a rstudio server)

Thanks for your reply.

Apparently, the CRAN repository looks at what version of R is in use, and doesn't allow the download an installation of incompatible (or non-backward compatible) packages. I did not realize this, even though the error messages were implying this fact.

When I upgraded to the latest version of R (3.3.3), the problem installing these packages went away.
