Abandoned? Is there a good replacement?

I've just tested and it seems that it does not work with the current Ruby, is there any plan of updating it, or is there a better alternative that we could point at on the readme?

Hi folks, sorry, yes this project is abandoned and won't be receiving any updates. I haven't had the time over the years to keep it up to date.
