Privacy FAQ
AnonymousOverflow allows you to browse StackOverflow in privacy by proxying requests between you and StackOverflow servers.
No. This is because AnonymousOverflow fetches thread data for you and processes it on the server-side. StackOverflow will see that the instance server requested data about the thread, but they will not be able to know who requested it. If there are multiple users using the same instance, the chances of finding out who requested what becomes even lower.
As of version 1.5, all images are securely proxied through the instance. Third-parties will only see the instance's server requesting images, not you.
IP addresses and other browser metadata are never written to disk or stored by the app.
IP addresses are stored ephemerally in memory without relation to browsing habits or other browser data to enforce an anti-scraping ratelimit, but they are deleted after your last request to the server. They are also discarded after the server is shutdown or restarted.
While AnonymousOverflow itself doesn't store any information about visitors, the instance owner may log this data. You should ask your instance owner for more details regarding privacy practices or host your own if it is a serious concern.
