A solution to this problem has been found that involved editing the prebuffer size in the .conf file.
After compiling Dosbox-X from source with all dependencies satisfied on Linux Mint 21.3 with kernel 5.15.0-101-generic x86_64, I have no sound at all. At first I assumed that the compiler had failed to find the ALSA header files, but that does not seem to be the problem because the appropriate linux-headers package is installed and I can find no mention of any ALSA failure in the config.log. Changing sound settings in Dosbox-X does not seem to accomplish anything, and I'm completely stumped about what the problem could be. The program also does show up in the sound mixer.
I've attached my dosbox.conf, the config.log the compiler made, and a debug log. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
