This isn't an issue, but I wanted to mention that I've been working on a similar project for markdown normalization called tidy-markdown and I'd love to work together to avoid duplicated effort. It's built around an htmlparser2 AST and marked, and includes some more advanced features like HTML to markdown conversion and header-level normalization.
