One can access the icecast stats by stream events from the server using a curl -X STATS http://icecast:8000. Maybe this is better than scraping an xml file ?

This should prevent messing with the client stats, as icecast have a dedicated stats client count

Upstream (icecast) says this feature is undocumented, and might change in the future, so we should probably wait that it is stable and somewhat official.
