jQuery Mobile supports a search filter on list. I wonder if a similar search filter can be created for other UI components, such as grid layout. Customization? How?

How you can accomplish something like that right now is a question for the forum: https://forum.jquery.com/jquery-mobile. I think the easiest way is to add custom CSS that overrides the default styling for ui-listview.
Making it possible to display a (filterable) list in a grid layout might be something we can look at in the future. Thinking about specific layouts for tablets. Do you mind adding a link to this ticket here https://github.com/jquery/jquery-mobile/wiki/Feature-Requests ?
