It is no longer required to append #gh-dark-mode-only and #gh-light-mode-only to support rendering images in dark mode when using GitHub README.md markdown.
It is now possible to add the prefers-color-scheme media feature to HTML in README.md markdown, but it is much better to implement it in the SVG generated files using CSS! The current deprecated implementation will require being refactored anyway.
