Cumulus and send_config_set

OpenStack Neutron networking-generic-switch module (https://opendev.org/openstack/networking-generic-switch) is using send_config_set for configuring switches.
Basically for Cumulus switches it's doing sudo (although it's not required) - I guess because it uses 'linux' for device type.
What would be the best approach to get that solved?
I tried using 'generic' device type, but that introduced some other issues with some commands not getting applied (but haven't deeply troubleshooted that to understand the underlying condition).

I'll respond to myself, enter_config_mode = False and exit_config_mode = False in send_config_set does the trick.
