The README recommends to use the forestry integration but following the link takes me to a website called tina.io and I can't figure how to how actually edit the blog from there?

If you're writing a new blog entry, the best way to do that is create the entry manually like this PR #77
This repo is not integrated with Forestry or Tina - will remove that language here
