In XKOS, xkos:belongTo is used for connecting a classification (a skos:conceptScheme) to its classification family (defined as skos:Concept)
Definition: “Connects a major version of a classification to a concept representing the overall classification.”
In DCAT, dcat:inSeries is used for connecting a dataset to a serie.
Definition: “A collection of datasets that are published separately, but share some characteristics that group them.”
If we follow the DCAT approach, a skos:Collection would enable a richer description of the family (instead of a skos:Concept) and maintaining in the same time the classification family (xkos) and the DatasetSerie (dcat).
First discussions on this within the authors team showed differences of approaches, so more time is needed to resolve this issue: we postpone to version 2.
