Tap page often freezes

When tapping a resource at /tap the whole page/table often freezes or the tab goes unresponsive.
I think this happens when tapping a large resource (e.g. namespace/linkerd) or resources that have a lot of events. I think what's happening is that the processing we're doing on the FE to massage the data is too slow.

To reproduce: go to /tap and try tapping namespace/linkerd (or namespace/emojivoto)
