Importing the library causes code to run twice

This might be a bug in the library or I am using the library in an incorrect way.

backoff.py:

import backoff

print("a")

When running the script, the print seems to have run twice:

python % python backoff.py
a
a

Why?

@LacikIgor This behavior is because you've shadowed the name of the package in your example module - both are called backoff. The library isn't actually involved here at all: your script imports itself, so it executes twice. You can reproduce the same behavior with any name, e.g. in a file called example_import.py:

import example_import

print("hi")

when executing:

$ python example_import.py 
hi
hi
