Theory postdocs in astrophysics, cosmology, numerical relativity, and gravitational waves
from Caltech and JPL meet once a week for a talk and catered lunch. This year I am the coordinator
for this seminar series. The idea is to promote interaction within an informal environment.
A designated speaker leads a 20 minute discussion on anything science related-- this can be your
own research, or something you find interesting. No slides required! Because of the diverse interests
of the participants, the topic should be made accessible to a broad audience.

The Postdoc Lunch Seminars are held in Cahill 312 at 12pm, unless otherwise noted.

How to order lunch

Each week there is one person responsible for ordering lunch. If it’s your turn, here are some tips and things you should know:

You’ll be reimbursed! See JoAnn Boyd in Cahill 321 and be sure to keep the receipt from the vendor.

The food should usually be ordered around 11am so that it arrives at 12pm. When giving the location for the drop-off, you can either tell them “the Cahill building at Caltech” or give the address, which is 1216 E. California Blvd. Don’t forget to give them the room number (Cahill 312), too.

The food costs should be of order $120, though this depends on the restaurant. The attendance varies but usually 10-12 postdocs show up on a given week.

Please order some vegan dishes to be considerate of people who don’t eat meat or animal byproducts. We have vegan group members, please do this.

The person ordering lunch is responsible for wiping down the tables and putting the trash outside the door so we don't stink out the conference room.

Restaurants to order from

There are lots of places in Pasadena to order food. The problem is that few of us have
cars to pick up the order so we usually use places that deliver. Feel free to explore
the culinary options available with delivery using these websites, which are self-explanatory:
