After a trip my wife frequently has literally thousands of photos to process. RPS has a good method for instantly deleting non-keepers. The enhancement I propose would be a hot key that would copy the image on the screen to a "Best of [X]" folder designated in the configuration menu.

Just re-reading this now, whilst looking at some other issues, there might be a different solution. You can set star ratings for your images using ctrl + 0 - 5. You can then filter the images by star rating. You can view star ratings from Windows Explorer to by adding the Ratings column. You can use search e.g. Rating:>4 star
In Windows Explorer:
View > Details
Right click one of the columns and select more...
Scroll down to ratings and select checkbox in front of it.
