#mastodon IRC channel user raucao pointed out, that since version v2.5.0, PostgreSQL 9.5 is required to run Mastodon.

raucao reported that migration 20180812173710_copy_status_stats fails on PostgreSQL 9.4, due to

syntax is invalid at the ON CONFLICT

ON CONFLICT syntax for INSERT was added in version 9.5 (see: INSERT in versions 9.4 and 9.5).

I searched or browsed the repo’s other issues to ensure this is not a duplicate.
This bug happens on tagged release v2.5.0.
