At the moment exceptions will get thrown all the way out, terminating the runtime---some exceptions are simply logged. Proper exception handling needs to be added to adapt exceptions to Smalltalk exceptions. The Smalltalk side should never see a standard Java Exception, and they certainly should not cause the runtime to halt.
