Where should the link point to? I would like to log an issue but don't know where to do that since this link is broken.

What is the nature of the issue? We have several other forums including UserVoice, Support, language-specific GitHub repos.

The issue is support for statsd data into Application Insights. There was a repo that had some support for this and it looks deprecated so I am trying to find out whether this will be supported in future.

I suggest filing a feature request on:
https://feedback.azure.com/forums/357324-azure-monitor-application-insights

You are also welcome to join the Azure OpenTelemetry early adopter community to be the first to know when your language is available on Azure:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/faq#how-can-i-test-out-opentelemetry

I don't see any evidence that anyone has contributed a StatsD plugin to OpenTelemetry yet, but perhaps someone will make this contribution in the future.

@mattmccleary To come back to the original question: the link pointed to the https://github.com/microsoft/ApplicationInsights-Home repository. This repository had generic documentation on the Application Insights product and endpoints (including schemas). The repository seems deleted now and the documentation for the endpoint and schemas seems to be unavailable.

The endpoint I mean is at https://dc.services.visualstudio.com/v2/track

Could you please look into this, so that there is some documentation how to push traces to Application Insights via a REST API, especially given OpenTelemetry is not ready yet? Having the REST endpoint documented would be a workaround until OpenTelemetry opens up support for more languages.

Other posts I found that could be helpful are the links below, but having the ones back that were removed would be preferred:

Hi @hansmbakker,

Thank you for reaching out. I forked an unofficial copy that you can refer to here.

https://github.com/mattmccleary/ApplicationInsights-Home

Note this content is not maintained or supported. Our ingestion endpoint has made some changes to support Connection Strings and AAD Authentication. None of that is reflected in the old docs.

As you note, we're actively considering how to support future endpoint docs in light of OpenTelemetry. I apologize for the inconvenience.
