When viewing changes with side-by-side diffs enabled, it would be nice if vertical white-space were collapsed. In addition, the editor should keep one pane fixed while the other scrolls to maintain vertical code alignment. For example:

VS Code:
diff-vs

p4merge:
diff-p4

I want to bump this issue. I've been missing and wanting this type of diff experience since I made vscode my editor. This issue is a little old -- can this be re-considered?

Also, I might add that I had a very hard time finding this issue because I wasn't sure how to refer to this feature that I wanted. I think that renaming might improve discoverability of this ticket -- e.g., "Side-by-side diff doesn't render missing lines".

I just wanted to follow up/bump this issue again. Is this a feature that the team would consider? @alexdima
