I love simpleIC, but I think the little X-es are a bit... immersion breaking. Would you be open to a different style of interaction, where the button/switch/lever/handle is highlighted, much like other games have implemented a similar interaction? I'd be happy to contribute to the actual development, I just wanted to get your thoughts on it first.

I like that Idea but I think it would be very difficult to implement.. With the highlight around the actual part like in your screen somebody would have to write a custom shader to do that I don't think anything like that already exists.
If you highlight the entire lever with an emmisive texture for example I think its just as much immersion breaking as the little X are right now.. not sure though. And you'd need 2 versions of each material or 2 versions of each lever in the mod.. A lot of extra work when adding SimpleIC.. not sure how many people would actually want to go through that trouble.
Not sure if that is a feature people would really use.. I'm not sure how many people use the leverAnimations I've added. I guess that would be a good indicator as to how many people are willing to do a bit of extra work when implementing SimpleIC.
I've thought about a mode where the "X" only show once you hover over the lever, and a mode where the "X" are completely hidden.. Not quite as elegant as highlighting in a different way, but once you know where the interactive levers/buttons are on a vehicle and what they do you might not even need any highlighting.. maybe :D
