Bug description

MuseScore 4.1.1, on both Windows 10 and 11, appears to be unable to use Alegreya Regular for text, and instead falls back to another installed weight in the same font family (the free font family Alegreya). All other weights (Medium, Bold, Extra Bold, Black, plus their italics) can be used precisely as expected in MuseScore.

If all variants of Alegreya are installed, selecting the default "Alegreya" font produces text rendered in Medium weight, both in-app and when exported to PDF. Adobe Acrobat confirms that only Alegreya-Medium is embedded in the exported PDF, even though both Alegreya and Alegreya Medium are selected to be used in the MuseScore document.

If only Regular weight and (for example) Black weight are installed, selecting Alegreya produces text in Alegreya Black.
Curiously, if only the Regular weight is installed, no font in the Alegreya family shows up in the MuseScore list of available fonts, even though it shows up in other programs like the LibreOffice suite.

Alegreya SC (the same font family, but with small-caps by default) exhibits the same pattern -- the regular weight cannot be used even if selected.

The bug persists no matter if the fonts are installed for one user or all users, in contrast to the old issue fixed by #6084.
Presumably related to #16188.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download the Alegreya OTF fonts
  2. Install Alegreya-Regular.otf and Alegreya-Black.otf
  3. Open Musescore, and open an new score
  4. Change the title font to Alegreya and subtitle font to Alegreya Black
  5. Observe that both texts are rendered in-app as Alegreya Black
