• use a different aac encoder. qaac requires Apple iTunes (yuck) e.g.

  • faac https://github.com/knik0/faac
  • Fraunhofer's aac https://android.googlesource.com/platform/external/aac (has good api docs)
  • Microsoft https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/medfound/aac-encoder

note

m4b is just m4a, with chapter metadata, etc.
