Vulnerability Details

SnakeYaml's Constructor() class does not restrict types which can be instantiated during deserialization. Deserializing yaml content provided by an attacker can lead to remote code execution. We recommend using SnakeYaml's SafeConsturctor when parsing untrusted content to restrict deserialization.

I propose closing this, because:
First, it is not in our repo:

Dependency Hierarchy:

  • opensearch-3.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar (Root Library)
    • opensearch-x-content-3.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
      • snakeyaml-1.32.jar (Vulnerable Library)

Second, it is a false positive according to snakeyaml repo:

CVE

When you are here because of some vulnerability report please be aware that it is most probably a false positive.

Looks like resolution in opensearch was a code change. We can close this If sql-plugin does not use snakeyaml directly.

Hey @Yury-Fridlyand and @MaxKsyunz ! We have fixed the vulnerability on core: opensearch-project/OpenSearch#6511 and backported it to 2.x. Looking at the latest Whitesource check here looks like the vulnerability is resolved for sql. Can we close this issue?
