OpenAI's ChatGPT has taken the world by storm, and it appears that it is here to stay. In addition to that, Microsoft seems to be all-in when it comes to this new technology (see here). Microsoft (Github) has also already began integrating GPT 3 into some of its services such namely Copilate. What if we brought GPT to pull requests?
When a reviewer is looking at a PR's code, wouldn't it be nice to do so alongside the most innovative AI bot ever seen. We all know that ChatGPT has the ability to sniff out bugs and provide suggestions for how to fix them. What if we gave a PR reviewer an option to select a portion of the diff and then have ChatGPT review and provide any feedback on that code snippet? GPT would essentially be a PR review assistant.
Ultimately, providing this feature to developers would help them find bugs in suspicious code and provide feedback for how to improve the code. If GPT suggests a change to the selected code snippet, the reviewer could then decide whether to leave a comment on that portion of code or not.
Think about it. ChatGPT doesn't have to replace our jobs. It can help us to our job better. +1 this post if you are interested in this feature!
