Description

It would be interesting to do an analyze of the performance of Che running on OpenShift.IO and compare that to other tools.

The idea, would be to look at:

  • Startup time of a workspace - available as prometheus metric and exposed to Grafana
  • Import scenario
  • Time to open a project
  • Time to open a file (small, medium, large, very large)
  • Compilation/Build time

Other

We could be comparing the same scenario with a local Che, a Che running on Azure, a Che running on Kubernetes.

Right off the bat - I've logged a performance issue of che on OSIO yesterday: openshiftio/openshift.io#4079 The workspace startup is really slow, when PVC is populated with (reasonably) large amount of files (I guess glusterFS to blame?)
