This library does not have any license. What would that be? BSD-like?

We can't ... DFKI can. This has been developed almost uniquely by DFKI. LGPLv2-or-later was the standard back in my time.

Given that it depends on base/types which is LGPLv2-or-later as of now, we would apply the same license here.
