In the past I used mutagenx because mutagen did not work with Python 3.
It is now ported to Python 3. A change to mutagen should be considered because mutagenxis no longer supported.

  • Update requirements
  • Update importstatements

Version 8.0.0 will use mutagen.
It worked fine for two .m4a files from iTunes including artwork extraction.
Anyway, the new library still needs to be tested with more files from more sources -> Issue solved but not yet closed
