Dear SBI researchers, toolbox contributors, and users,
We are happy to announce the 4th SBI Hackathon, happening Monday, 17.03.25 (noon) until Friday, 21.03.25 (noon) in Tübingen, Germany.
What to expect?
The hackathon will consist of (1) extending and improving the sbi toolbox, (2) a series of research talks about simulation-based inference – both long lunch talks and shorter lightning talks (see the sign-up form for how to be considered for a talk), and (3) coffee breaks and pizza. Last year, around 25 people joined.
The hackathon will happen at Paul-Ehrlich Straße 5, 72076 Tübingen. Additionally, we will organize a dedicated remote track with regular online meetings and check-ins. It is free of charge, but we cannot cover travel or accommodation for participants.
How to sign up?
Please fill out the following survey: Sign-up form
We will review sign-ups on a rolling basis and will inform you shortly after you fill out the survey about whether (a) your sign-up is confirmed, (b) we need more info, or (c) we are (unfortunately) out of desk space (around 30 seats) and can only host you remotely.
How to organize travels to Tübingen?
The hackathon will start on Monday at noon and will end on Friday at noon. We suggest people travel to Tübingen on Monday morning and leave on Friday. Of course, it is no problem if you arrive late and leave early, or even if you just join for a subset of days.
Here are two suggestions for hotels:
There are also several Airbnbs or rooms available throughout Tübingen (on Booking.com or Airbnb.com) which are cheaper but are also just fine (but of course less luxurious).
Tübingen has limited hotel space, so we recommend booking early.
Who is invited?
The hackathon is open to everyone. Past contributors, SBI researchers and aspiring future contributors or users, all are welcome! (With the in-person limitation of desk space.)
Questions?
If you have questions, just ask directly under this post, or send us an email (simulation.based.inference@gmail.com).
Looking forward to seeing you in Tübingen!
All the best
Michael, Jan, Daniel, Manuel, Guy
