EDA tools are usually proprietary and have large licensing fees. The tools are purchased by companies like Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA for engineers to use. But what if tools like this were free and open source? Semiconductor companies wouldn't have to pay for licenses, they could contribute to each tool if they want a new feature, and individuals wouldn't be gated from using these tools due to price.

As a design verification engineer, a world with open-source EDA tools is a world I want to live in. It's a win-win for everyone, because...
