The goal of pyNastran is to add read/write support for every mainstream Nastran card or result to enable custom tools to be written. Some examples of tools that exist include:

  • mass properties
  • loads summation
  • nodal equivalence
  • conversion of stresses/strains into alternate coordinate systems
  • extraction of mass and stiffness matrices
  • the pyNastran GUI

It's a vert big task and has been in continued development since 2011.
