Overhaul npf-renderer error handling

npf-renderer is supposed to be garbage in garbage out; allowing it to practically render anything. However, npf-renderer should still inform the user that the result may be unexpected.

It currently basically doesn't do this at all. The only thing you know is that an error has occurred but not what actually happened.
