I've noticed an interesting issue with the /etc/group file, while playing around with my personal cinnamon image. If I run the image with
podman run
, I can see a bunch of groups that have been added as a result of various installed packages. However, if I rebase Silverblue off the image in a virtual machine, most of these groups are gone. I guess what's happening is that the /etc/group file in my Silverblue setup is overwriting the /etc/group from the image. The one group that carries over is light-dm, presumably because ublue-lightdm-workaround.sh (borrowed from Budgie) adds it. I'm wondering if I should make a similar script to add in any other groups that I want to keep around (so I don't have to sudo groupadd them manually). Thoughts? Is there any standard approach for addressing this issue?
