everything else works but for some reason the chat specifically is white and I can't change it please help my eyes are melting I miss hangouts

I have the same issue. Is it something to do with our devices? I tried to check the options to change the colors of the sections in the app but it doesn't work and I don't understand some of the names. Tried to change the sidebar, but it's not working too.
