Networks List

ianbjacobs edited this page Jan 16, 2017 · 12 revisions

Basic Card Payment, published by the W3C Web Payments Working Group, defines supportedNetworks as a sequence of identifiers for card networks accepted by the merchant. User agent support for identifiers will likely change over time, and perhaps more rapidly than the custom for W3C to update its Recommendations. This is the Working Group's list of approved card network identifiers.

Status

This is a draft for Working Group consideration.

Questions:

  • Can we move this to w3.org? Rationale: (1) that would give us a persistent URL (2) it is not a requirement to enable editing by many people. If so, proposed URL: https://www.w3.org/Payments/card-network-ids.
  • Is there any issue with strings that may be trademarked names? (Awaiting feedback from Amex)
  • Has W3C management committed to long-term maintenance? (In discussion)
