This is an ExoPlayer issue. If you manually load SRT subtitles, or if an MKV has internal SRT/SSA/ASS subs, they won't show up during the times at which there are more than 1 sub at a specific offset. Refer to issue #10295

Using mpv now shows correct subtitles and their styles as well thanks to libass library, available in version (0.12.0).
