Answers to Exercises #1
Comments
Hey, thanks for your interest. This started out as some TeX-ification of my messy notebook, for my own edification. It could be cool to collect solutions more deliberately though. |
I'm interested in this too. I don't have any solutions of my own to offer yet, being a beginner in abstract algebra, but I am learning Latex and I'd be happy to typeset any of the solutions, if anyone has them in handwritten notes or anything like that. From my searches, it seems a lot of people would be interested in having more solutions for this book. |
Don't want to strip you the opportunity of finding the solutions; and thereby the learning. Call it out if you need a hint or solution only if there is still the need. |
Maybe we could collect solutions here, but not provide a PDF. That way if people want to "cheat" they'll have to be a bit more deliberate about it. |
Hello, I've started writing my notes down as well. Find them here: https://github.com/narodnik/abstract-algebra-pinter-solutions |
@hansonchar, it might be good to collect errata here too |
Hi Eric, there are 33 chapters in Pinter's Abstract Algebra. I see you have put to this repo some of the solutions in Latex/pdf for the exercises of Chapter 2 and 3. I think I've done so far all the exercises up to Chapter 23 or so (and more will come.) If interested, I can provide the solutions so you can include them in this repo.
(I've also found some typos that don't seem to have been mentioned anywhere on the web. For example, if you look at Chapter 23 ex. F5, the question seems to have been truncated, even though it's obvious from the previous exercises what the missing parts are.)
Regards,
Hanson
