We should run the E2E tests on more than just Ubuntu. RHEL 8 seems to be a high priority for our Navy customer, so that would be one to consider closely.

I think we don't need to run every E2E on every distro, but we should ensure the

  • binary runs on each distro/major version we care about
  • the components that interface with the os are tested for each distro
  • consider full E2E for maybe a debian-based and rhel-based OS if we want to go further
